In Tynemouth, the Labour Party selected a candidate whose sane, human, people-before-profit-and-bureaucracy approach would inevitably have inspired a tsunami of political change, radiating from the north east across the entire country and beyond, and destroying all privilege and injustice in its path. Oh yes.
Desperate to protect themselves from a movement which would have exposed their slavery to the economic elite who fund them, the Conservatives grabbed the political cover offered by CoronaVirus to block her path - and delayed the elections for a year.
(Doubtless I would be considered some kind of "conspiracy theorist" if I argued that their lizard overlords created the virus itself simply to stop this one empathetic woman, so I won't, even though it is plainly true.)
Her name is Tricia Neira. As it happens, she is my daughter. More importantly, she's also the most decent person I know. Her ideas, of course, are her own: we agree on much, but not all, and I hope it is not necessary to say that she bears no responsibility for anything on this website which outrages you.
But she is a true bread-and-butter socialist, in mind and heart, and I cannot express how proud I am of her. If you happen to live in Tynemouth, vote for Tricia when you finally get the chance. Whatever my arguments with the Labour Party - and they are profound - and however the powers of local councils have been undermined over recent decades, I have absolutely no doubt that the lives of the people she represents will be better for it.

(I was delighted to be able to offer my help by laying out one of her election leaflets, in which she addresses some of the environmental issues facing residents. The text and images were provided by her and her election team, and are entirely their own. Click below for a copy.)
